Group Experience Options

Team Building

The Adventure Center of Asheville offers numerous opportunities for a wide range of team building experiences. From our Treetops Adventure Park, designed to provide a fun and competitive experience, to our ground-based programs, designed to instill confidence, cooperation, communication, and connection between group members, we offer numerous options to meet your group’s needs.

Our programs

Our facilitated programs with experienced instructors focus on active interactions designed for guests to step outside of typical comfort zones. We highlight the potential strengths of task completion and the challenges of processes such as communication, group decision making, and task sharing/delegation. Our program is regularly described as fun, engaging, challenging, sometimes frustrating, thought provoking, and personally enlightening. The group will walk away knowing more about themselves and each other and hopefully shed light on some ideas the team can develop and implement long term.

Our “challenge by choice” programs are custom created and based on group goals, time available, size of group and athletic ability.

Activities range from:

  • Cooperative games led by a facilitator (30-45 minutes)
  • Games and Problem Solving Initiatives with facilitator feedback (1-1 ½ hour)
  • Games, Initiatives and Team Building Elements with experienced facilitator guidance and feedback focusing on group goals (ages 11 and over, half day to full day)
  • If you would like to add an Adventure Center Activity to your teambuilding experience, we can offer group rates and added competitive challenges to all of our activities.

Goals include:

  • learning effective team communication
  • expanding your comfort zone
  • supporting and planning with others in the team
  • positive relationship development
  • enhancing cooperation and trust
  • inspiring positive changes
  • improving problem solving skills
Our programs have been popular with professional adult groups, students, teachers, athletic teams, emergency management teams, boards, and associations. Prices and activities vary depending upon event schedule, group size and support required.

The Asheville Treetops Adventure Park Difference

Traditional high ropes courses have been recognized as a successful tool for adults and youth working on personal development, support for others, and self confidence in stressful situations. These challenges, when accompanied by conversation, evaluation, and reflection, have the power to improve group community and communication. The down side to these facilities is the limited number of participants able to access the challenges at one time.

We have eliminated these issues by taking access and safety limitations away from the challenge at our Asheville Treetops Adventure Park with our investment in state-of-the-art clipping systems and construction of the largest adventure park challenge course in North Carolina. With over 60 challenge elements on five unique trails with varying levels of difficulty, guests are encouraged to expand their personal comfort zones, increase their self-confidence, and support others challenged to do the same.

Our Team Building Leader: Chad Clark

For over twenty years, Chad Clark has facilitated professional development, recreational and therapeutic team building programs using an adventure-based approach.   His programs are a blend of challenge and fun. Whether its leading students in cooperative games for an hour or facilitating a full-day goal driven experience for an adult sales team, Chad’s programs are challenging but rewarding.

Chad is a coach at heart. Coaching crew at the high school and collegiate level, he loves teaching with methods used in experiential education. With a degree in psychology, and a love for adventure, Chad has worked for Southeast Adventure Outfitters as a guide, worked for companies who build ropes courses and other adventure structures, owned his own team building company at St Simons Island, GA and now is the General Manager of the Adventure Center of Asheville.

To make his programs a fun and memorable experience, Chad uses a variety of engaging activities adapted to fit the group's needs.  Some are energizing. Some requiring problem solving. And others may have more of a physically challenging twist.

With creative passion and years of experience, Chad creates custom-designed, ground based, successfully engaging team building programs at the Adventure Center of Asheville.

The Adventure Center of Asheville is a great place to host groups after a target goal is met or a project completed. We are a great way to celebrate personal development, support for others, and self confidence in stressful situations.

We can also offer Adventure Center passes for team members to come on their own to experience the park or to bring their families.

Incentive trips are a great way for teachers or students to end the school year, a company staff retreat to celebrate meeting budget, or a club or non-profit social to commemorate a project.

"Team Building at its Best!"

Great team building experience for our staff. We had one hour on the ground with a facilitator, had a picnic lunch, then spent 2 hours on the Tree Top Adventure. Our facilitator, Trey, was wonderful. Everyone was challenged on the Tree Top Adventure and enjoyed every minute of it. Everyone said they planned to return with friends and family! Would recommend this to anyone wanting the best team building experience or just a great adventure with friends and family.

“Took 24 of our clients here”...

"I work for a DC Land Rover dealership and we have planned an "Amazing Race" for our clients every year for the past 6 years. This year, we did it in North Carolina and immediately had to get in touch with Asheville Treetops Adventure Park to have them included in our race! From the start, Jeff was nothing but helpful. My colleague and I called him numerous of times leading up to the event and he was always available to answer even the small questions. When we arrived (prior to their regular hours, mind you), they were staffed and ready to get the day started! This was a fast paced race much like the actual Amazing Race so our clients were in and out in a flash but Jeff and his team were more than capable of handling everything we threw at them! Some of our clients faced their fears of height and Jeff was there to walk them along the whole way. I do wish to take a visit back to Asheville to enjoy the obstacle courses on my own since I was unable to that weekend. We can't thank Jeff and his team enough for letting us take over for a few hours to give our clients an experience of a lifetime! We highly recommend Asheville Treetops Adventure Park for any of your event needs! Thanks guys!"

“Great for team building and individuals!”

I took 20 high school student government members to ATA. What a blast! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Everyone gets a lesson on harnessing and safety before you begin and once you are ready to go you start off on an "easy"course. Our group split up to do different courses and there were smiles and encouragement all around. Some of the obstacles are scary, but there is always a friendly ranger on the ground to talk you through! Big shout out to BILLY our ranger extraordinaire! He even came up to the treetops to get a group of us through the orange course. Great people, great service and above all an AMAZING afternoon (we spent about 3 hours)! So worth it!

Make sure you wear sneakers and longer shorts!
We will be back--thanks Beverly, Wells and all the rangers!
